Summary:

The Shop Foreman position is a hands-on working position and responsible for managing the shop workflow including scheduling, planning and assigning work within their team, while ensuring quality repairs and maintenance in a strong performance environment.

Responsibilities

• Prioritize and assign all work required within the shop.
• Assists mechanics and technicians and provides guidance in diagnostics and repair procedures.
• Perform routine quality assurance inspections of work performed.
• Works directly with the Service Manager to establish KPI’s and the accountability process.
• Maintains vehicle records and repair data as required in BC (work order & inventory program)
• Responsible for the professional development of all shop staff members
• Assist the Service Manager in the development of a Bell and Evans Preventative Maintenance Program and monitor it for success and adjust as needed to maximize equipment uptime.
• Practice safe work habits and use personal protective equipment as required.
• Routinely inspect all shop equipment and work area to maintain a safe environment for all employees.
• Assist the Service Manager in implementing shop procedures and policies through positive example, and instruction to others.
• Manage employee duty times as approved by the Service Manager
• Works closely with Transportation Managers and Driver Managers to ensure fleet vehicles are available for route and trip coverage.
• Respond to breakdowns and/or accidents in a timely manner.
• Perform state safety inspections and repairs for all required vehicles.
• Establish and maintain vehicle preventive maintenance schedules
• Willing to operate various forms of power equipment (forklift, scissor-lift etc)
• Work irregular hours and respond to after-hours emergency calls as needed.
• Assist in recruiting, screening, training, and evaluation of shop employees.
• Participates in “on-call” rotation.
• Leadership experience
• Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

• 5 + years of tractor/trailer maintenance experience required
• Demonstrated/proven superior customer service skills
• Ability to read and understand repair manuals, fill out repair tags and work/repair orders
• Ability to use and learn various diagnostic software used on tractor/trailers
• Good computer skills
• Ability and desire to lead a team to meet/exceed company goals

Education and/or Experience:

High school diploma required.

Completion of related Technician certification program preferred

Class A CDL is required.

State Inspection License required.

EPA 608 and 609 Certification a plus.

Physical Demands and Work Environment: The employee is regularly required to sit, stand, bend and climb ladders. The employee will be required to occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. The employee, at times, will work in a cold and or hot, wet, noisy environment and be required to travel to multiple sites.
