Warehouse Associate needed for 1st shift 9-5:30pm

Starting pay is $20/hr

The Warehouse Operator participates with other team members and is responsible for the preparation, packaging, shipping of products, samples, and miscellaneous materials as well as maintaining proper certifications, managing inventories, receiving all forms of raw materials, and the preparation and filing of all required paperwork.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Ability to unload bulk trucks, requiring wearing a safety shoes, a bump cap, hearing protection, and other PPE as required.
  • Liaison to the Warehouse Supervisor, Shift Leaders, temporary employees, and other support groups as needed.
  • Support procedure development and train other employees, temporary employees, contractors and truck drivers.
  • Responsible for maintaining, communicating and addressing issues with the high expectations of safety, environmental, quality assurance, and performance/productivity programs.
  • Maximize individual employee skill flexibility by identifying the current skill base, skill gaps and developing a timeline and requirements to close skill gaps.
  • Effectively communicates with on-coming and off-going shifts; among employees on their shift of immediate responsibility; with the production manager; technical support personnel; logistics and planning; etc.
  • Ensuring Process Orders (POs) are maintained in an accurate manner including issues, receipts, scrap and rework generation, productivity, accounting for 100% of work force hours, and modification as needed. Provide explanation of any variance at conclusion of each shift.
  • Supports continuous improvement initiatives and activities to support personnel and ensure KPI’s are met – including (but not limited to) ESHA, Quality, Productivity and all project activities.
  • Ability to routinely rotate through all of the team jobs and train others, as needed.
  • Participate in Performance Dialogs including (but not limited to): completing the daily 5S checklist, identifying and resolving action items, providing data for performance indicators, and maintaining work area effectiveness.
  • Work as a source of information and guidance for other team members, management, customer service, sales, purchasing, and sales.
  • Willingness and ability to work flexible and/or extended hours to meet the production/shipping demands on an as-needed basis.
  • Maintains certification in forklift operation and completes all assigned OSHA and Clariant required training courses.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES REQUIRED:

  • Excellent mechanical and spatial aptitude.
  • High School Diploma or GED; some college preferred.
  • Skilled in SAP, Microsoft Word, and Excel or ability to become proficient using and train others as needed.
  • Excellent attendance, performance and safety record with a demonstrated ability to approach safety issues proactively.
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to calculate averages.
  • Proficient personal computer skills, including electronic mail, word processing, spreadsheet, etc.
  • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
  • Must have valid driver’s license; carry insurance and means of transportation.

PHYSICAL/ENVIRONMENTAL DEMANDS:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to stand; walk and talk or hear. The employee is occasionally required to sit; use hands to finger, handle or feel, reach with hands and arms, reach overhead, climb or balance; and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 55 pounds. The physical demands are moderate, somewhat strenuous.

WORKING CONDITIONS & ENVIRONMENT:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee regularly works in an industrial manufacturing setting with little or no heating or air conditioning. The employee is also exposed to changing weather conditions (for instance, snow, rain, sun, wind, etc.) The employee is occasionally exposed to wet and/or humid conditions and extreme heat. The employee may be required to work in wet or humid conditions, near moving mechanical parts, with fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals. The noise level in the work environment may be loud.
