Job description

The Surgical Coordinator position is responsible for managing and maintaining surgical bookings and surgical schedules for the surgeons.

Primary Responsibilities:

· Coordinate with prospective surgical patients to determine date, time frame and facility

· Obtain pre-certifications as required by patient’s health care insurers or managed care

· Provide support and navigate patient throughout surgical process

· Coordinates retrieval of all outside diagnostics needed prior to pre-op visit

· Arrange pre-op testing with primary care provider and any other specialists

· Arrange transportation for patients with special requirements.

· Prepare and provide surgical information packet to patient

· Collects all signed consent forms prior to surgery

· Distributes to patient pre-post medication forms and obtains authorization if needed

· Potential to administer premium lens testing (IOLMaster, Pentacam, etc.)

· Other tasks and responsibilities assigned as needed.

Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
· Knowledge and experience using an EMR preferred

· Ability to multitask

· Excellent customer service skills

· Attention to detail.

Education and Experience:

· High School Diploma or equivalent required

· Minimum of one year of surgical coordination experience required

· Previous customer service experience preferred

· Valid and current Drivers License required
