Long Term Substitute Nurse PositionJOB SUMMARY The substitute nurse actively promotes and models holistic health and wellness for the Sizer School community. They provide nursing care and collaborate with teachers and staff as well as outside agencies to promote positive health and wellness outcomes for all students and staff of Sizer School. MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES * Provide consultation on school health issues, both clinical and management, to the students, staff, and parents of Sizer School; * Conduct physical assessments and interventions on a daily and emergency basis; * Provide health counseling and information to the student population; * Administration of scheduled medications to students and PRN as needed medications to both students and staff;* Maintain student health records; * Manage and adhere to the maintenance of the 3 AEDs on campus;* Ensure immunization compliance of incoming and current students of Sizer School; * Provide first aid response and care to staff and students; * Ensure compliance with state mandated health requirements (vision, hearing, BMI, and postural screenings); * Collaborate with school physician and community resources; * Educate teachers and staff on CPR, AED, First Aid, Epi-Pen use; * Manage medical emergencies and respond to emergent crisis situations; * Advise teaching staff on health and wellness programs * Report to state and federal agencies for the good of students and their health; * Assist students in accessing health care if needed; * Collaborate with the Athletic Director to ensure all students have current physical examinations and all coaches are certified in First Aid, CPR, and AED use. * Attend field trips with students as needed* Communication with families related to student updates/needs* Maintain the health office while the Nurse Leader is not in the building * Create healthcare plans and medication plans as neededAbout The SchoolSizer School, now in its 20th year, is located in Fitchburg, MA in a new facility and draws from cities and towns in North Central Massachusetts, chartered to serve 400 students in grades 7-12.
