Basic Job Functions:

Safety is the most important part of all jobs within Nucor; therefore, candidates must be able to demonstrate the ability to initiate, lead, and uphold safety policies, practices, procedures, and housekeeping standards at all times.

• Perform all quote engineering functions required for estimating and creation of proposals for low-rise steel building projects:
  • Preliminary design of structural framing
  • Clarification of scope of work
  • Creation of details for inclusion with proposals
  • Writing of qualifications/exclusions to be included with proposals
• Provide creative, economical, and efficient solutions for various framing conditions by utilizing knowledge of Nucor Building Systems products and manufacturing limitations.
• Represent Nucor Building Systems as an engineering resource in project meetings with customers, typically to present value-engineering ideas and discuss scope of work for proposals.
• Actively manage estimates through effective communication and documentation with customers and teammates in other departments.
• Effective application of custom-developed software for preliminary design of standard and non-standard structural framing conditions and details.
• Assist in enhancement of current design software by providing suggestions of engineering programs and calculations. Involvement with the development of new design tools that aid productivity and accuracy may occasionally be required.
• Candidates must be legally authorized to work in the US (Nucor will not sponsor the need for a visa now or in the future).

Minimum Qualifications:

• Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering (Structural emphasis) and working towards PE registration
• Valid driver’s license in good standing and proof of insurance.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Registered Professional Engineer
• Previous experience in design of low-rise steel building systems
• Demonstrated leadership presence
