The Opportunity

The Sr. Manager, Sales Operations is responsible for leading sales operations, training & development, communication, and compliance components within the retail sales organization and supports the Division Vice President (DVP) to deliver on the goals and objectives of the Consumer Sales Force.


The Sr. Manager Sales Operations leverages broad knowledge of the retail landscape and works cross functionally to effectively deliver initiatives, while proactively identifying opportunities of continuous process and resource improvement.

What You’ll Work On

  • Project management: Coordinating efforts of support functions to achieve results in project areas identified by Consumer Sales DVP.

  • Entry-Level talent development: Manage the execution of the Consumer Sales Internship and Retail Development Program to ensure identifying, hiring, developing and retaining key talent.

  • Learning & Development: Lead internal Consumer Sales Training team by effectively identifying gaps, developing skillsets, and executing optimal consumer sales training.

  • Talent management: Work with Consumer Sales DVP and leadership team to evaluate sales force design and alignment.

  • Meeting coordination: Manage and coordinate key large-scale sales meetings and leadership events to include presentation design, content, direction, and format.

  • Industry involvement: Manage and coordinate national industry events and industry specific communications to best represent Abbott.

  • Communication: Provide continuous clear communication to the field sales force to maintain connection and engagement while fostering a strong team culture.

  • Compliance: Ensure sales force compliance in the areas of OEC policies and procedures.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience required.
  • 10 years of related work experience, Consumer Sales experience preferred
  • Business management experience with increasing level of responsibility
  • Strong leadership and project management skills

  • Internal and field sales stakeholder management: Effectively communicate and partner with internal and external stakeholders to gain agreement on business objectives and the action plan to achieve them.
  • Problem solving: Demonstrate a strategic approach to achieve business objectives by asking strategic questions, aligning resources, developing an action plan, and evaluating action plan results.
  • Process: Consistently implements all operations protocols, procedures, and standards in a timely manner.
  • Teamwork and collaboration: Contribute to the team’s performance, actively collaborate within and beyond the team to design and ensure buy-in around solutions
  • Leadership: Fosters an environment of candor and support for voicing ideas and overcoming concerns, including advancing own and others’ ideas through influence. Effectively represents views of management to team, and team to management. Leads organization-level initiatives and holds others accountable.
  • Managing and developing people: Manages team to deliver business results and individual development. Provides ongoing discussion and active advocacy of team member development plans, identifying opportunities, articulating barriers, and providing clear assessment of status. Conducts development discussions with each direct that result in tangible action plans for leveraging strengths and addressing areas of growth.
