Position Summary
Evaluates and implements specific treatment programs for individuals according to the principles and practices of Speech Pathology. Will function across the continuum of care; Acute Inpatient, Acute Rehab, and Outpatient.
Position Accountabilities
Maintains established departmental policies and procedures, objectives, quality assurance program, safety, environmental and infection control standards.
Develops and implements a language development program consisting of specific goals and objectives for assisting consumers.
Provides testing, diagnostic and evaluation services and, as necessary, recommends appropriate services.
Provides consultation and training for program staff to ensure continuity and appropriate implementation of language development program.
As appropriate, develops and participates in feeding program.
Responsible for initiating and maintaining all required records and documentation in an appropriate and timely manner.
Participates in staff, team and in-service meetings.
Maintains departmental policies and procedures, objectives, quality improvement programs, safety environmental and infection control standards.
Assists with the development and implementation of policies/procedures; quality improvement; educational programs/training; and orientation as requested.
Utilizes effective and courteous working relationships with all co-workers, patients and family members.
Provides practice in functional, prevocational, vocational, and homemaking skills, and activities of daily living.
Consults with other members of rehabilitation team to select activity program consistent with needs and capabilities of individual and to coordinate speech therapy with other therapeutic activities.
Maintains personal, professional and institutional certifications and regulatory requirements by attending conferences, committee meetings, personal development and attending outside educational programs.
Demonstrates sensitivity to patient comfort and privacy.
Maintains confidentiality of patient and unit care data.
Will acquire needed supervisory signatures on documentation and fulfill all requirements indicated to assure that work is reimbursable.
Will market Speech Pathology services as needed. As services expand may be requested to provide Speech Pathology consults at WW Hastings Hospital.
Enhances professional growth and development through participation in educational programs, current literature, in-service meetings, and workshops.
Attends meetings as required.
Performs other related duties as assigned or requested.
Minimum Education - Graduate of accredited Speech/Language University program
Minimum Experience - New graduate having fulfilled all clinical training from accredited University
program.
Preferred Experience - Conducting modified barium swallow test with interpretation.
Required Training - CPR Certification as required to maintain licensure
Required Certification - Licensed or acquiring certification with needed supervision in place.
Required Licensure - Current Oklahoma Speech Pathologist license
Preferred Education - Master’s Degree
