Shift Leaders at Old Scratch Pizza oversee and support overall shift operations, sales performance, and execution of brand excellence in our restaurant. Shift Leads typically support team members and carry out administrative responsibilities consistent with our policies, procedures and legal requirements. As a Shift Leader, you will be expected to work in a fast-paced and energetic environment that requires a high level of focus and attention to detail.

As a Shift Leader, a typical day might include the following:

  • Develop good customer relationships and address customer service needs.
  • Train employees in daily tasks.
  • Ensure that all restaurant policies, procedures, standards, specifications, guidelines, and training programs are followed and completed on a timely basis.
  • Investigate and resolve complaints regarding food quality, service, or accommodations.
  • Attend all scheduled employee meetings and offer suggestions for improvement.
  • Guides completion of employee tasks.
  • Count money and ready the bank deposits.
  • Perform some food preparation or service tasks, such as cooking, clearing tables, and serving food and drinks when necessary.
  • Assist the Managers and General Manager as directed.
  • Maintain a clean, safe, and organized restaurant environment.
  • Perform opening and closing duties as needed.

Job Requirements:

  • 1+ years of experience in the restaurant industry
  • Must be at least 18 years of age
  • Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, and some holidays
  • Excellent communication, leadership, and customer service skills
  • Ability to manage a team and delegate tasks effectively
  • Strong organizational and time management skills
  • Ability to multitask and handle a fast-paced work environment
  • Basic computer skills and experience with restaurant POS systems
  • Ability to work long hours during peak periods

Work Environment:

This job entails frequent exposure to high temperatures and extreme cold. There is frequent contact/immersion of hands in water and sanitation solutions; as well as contact with produce items, dairy products, and frequent allergen related items such as nuts, citrus, gluten, etc.

Physical Requirements:

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job:

  • Stand and walk for extended periods of time, as the shift leader will be required to be on their feet for most of their shift.
  • Bend, stoop, and lift up to 50 pounds, as the shift leader will be required to stock inventory and supplies, and move equipment as needed.
  • Have good manual dexterity and hand-eye coordination, as the shift leader will be required to operate and use various kitchen equipment and tools.
  • Have good vision and hearing, as the shift leader will need to communicate effectively with staff and customers, and monitor the restaurant operations.

It is important that applicants are able to meet these physical requirements to perform the duties of the Shift Leader job. There is substantial repetitive motion of the wrists, hands, and fingers. Must be able to maneuver in walk-in coolers and freezers.
