Regular, Full-time position -Hourly
Summary:
As a Program Assistant, you will aid our participants by helping them with activities, off-site social activities, and delivering meals. This position is critical in ensuring the safety of our participants in all activities and recreation programs, while providing prompt, efficient and professional service with creating a warm and welcoming environment. This role will also be responsible for maintaining equipment and organizing activities.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Ensure participants have a safe, meaningful, and entertaining experience.
- Works with senior center staff and volunteers and participates as a team member with kitchen staff and other staff in aging services.
- Ensure all participants have signed up to attend activities.
- Collect money for lunch and transportation/other fees for classes.
- Assist participants with accessibility to activities and meals which might include serving meals.
- Set up and prepare furnishings and supplies for activities.
- Greet, accommodate, and announce guest speakers/presenter.
- Assist in maintaining a clean and healthy environment for attendees/staff.
- Participate in planning, facilitating, and promoting activities.
- Assist in keeping records and required reporting.
- Deliver meals as assigned to areas throughout Dorchester Co.
- Drive company vehicles to transport participants as needed and directed by supervisor.
- Other duties as assigned by supervisor.
Education, Experience, Licensing, and Other Position Requirements:
- Excellent listening skills and patience when collaborating with staff, volunteers, and participants.
- Ability to keep and maintain accurate records and reports.
- Ability to multitask and problem solve. Make decisions and adjust to changes in the program schedule.
- Proficient computer skills, including word/excel program.
- Minimum of High school diploma or General Education Diploma (GED)
- Minimum of 2 years’ experience in programmatic setting.
- Outstanding organizational and people skills.
- At least 18 years of age with 2 years driving experience.
- Pass State/Federal background check.
- Negative results on pre-employment and random drug tests
- Maintain a valid driver’s license with no more than 4 points.
- Must maintain State and Agency required mandated training.
- Pre-Employment Reference Checks from prior employers.
- Employee must be able to receive, understand, and communicate verbal and written instruction and communicate in the English language.
