Project Accountant
Job description
John T. Jones Construction Co.is seeking a full time Payroll, AP & Job Cost Accounting Specialist. We are a medium sized General Contracting Firm specializing in Water/ Wastewater Construction. No remote work is available at this time.
Responsibilities:
- Payroll, Accounts Payable, Job Costing/Equipment
- Process payroll for 50+ employees weekly, including payments for garnishments, child support obligations, payroll tax deposit
- Process accounts payable from invoice to payment
- Assist in administering and maintaining employee records and benefits policies
- Reconciliation of Vendor statements and Customer payments
- Maintain payment files and invoice files
- Responsible for the assembling, processing, reviewing and submission of applications for payment for multiple projects.
- Lien waiver maintenance and subcontractor insurance verification.
- Job cost tracking, analysis and reporting.
- Process budget changes and maintain project files in orderly, organized manner Process and understand the construction billing and collections process. Interface with Project Managers and senior management on all aspects of construction accounting.
- Track and monitor tools, vehicles, and equipment locations
- Maintain records of miles/hours on vehicles and equipment to assist in maintenance planning
- Perform/review bank account and petty cash reconciliations
- Process withholding and sales tax returns
- Assist with general office duties as required
Skills/Education:
- 2-5 years in a related position, construction industry a plus
- High School Diploma, 2 year degree preferable but not required
- Competent with computers & exposure to accounting software
- Proficient in Microsoft Excel , Word & Outlook
