SUMMARY OF POSITION :
Responsible for the identification, and development of, psychosocial programs within the Division of Pediatric Hematology/Oncology. Functioning as part of a multidisciplinary healthcare team, role is charged with working effectively with nurses, physicians, social workers, music and child life specialists, chaplains, psychologists and patients and family members to expand current psychosocial services by designing and implementing needed programs. A priority for this position is to develop and implement a Parent-to-Parent Mentor Program. Other areas for program development include, but are not limited to, bereavement, transitioning to survivorship, adolescent and young adult cancer patients. Programs should be consistent with the Standards for the Psychosocial Care of Children with Cancer and their Families.
A masters degree in social work, psychology, counseling or other mental health related field is required. A minimum of 3-5 years of professional experience in healthcare delivery and/or psychosocial program development is required. Experience with pediatric oncology/hematology patients is desired, but not mandatory.
