What You'll Do
The Process Engineer will drive solutions for problems as they relate to optical manufacturing. This includes the development of new and optimization of existing processes supporting optical manufacturing.
- Drive development of new and optimize existing processes to manufacture precision optics. The engineer will solve complex technical problems as they relate to manufacture of large area optics and optical assemblies. Typical materials for coated and uncoated optics include glass, fused silica, Zerodur and sapphire. These materials find applications in Semiconductor and Aerospace & Defense (A&D) industries.
- Develop process parameters, and controls to achieve final requirements on optical parts including dimension, flatness, roughness, and surface quality. Engineer should be able to define optics polishing concepts, develop and test prototype processes, analyze results and implement manufacturable processes in optics production.
- Design experiments and conduct research and development into cutting edge optical fabrication processes. Work on existing processes to improve yield, reduce defects and cost of poor quality (COPQ)

What You'll Bring
Bachelor's degree or higher in mechanical engineering or related discipline from an accredited college.
What's Nice to Have
6+ years experience in process development as it relates to optics manufacturing
Experience in polishing, double-sided polishing, sub-aperature polishing
Hands-on experience in one or more areas of optical assembly, optical shop metrology, including interferometry and CMM
Experience creating mechanical drawings, CAD software, and knowledge of geometric dimensioning and tolerancing, data analysis with MatLab or MathCad or equivalent
