Design Engineer – Swartz Creek, MI

GENERAL JOB DESCRIPTION & ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

In general, the Design Engineer will perform Fiber-to-the-Premise outside plant design tasks related to telecommunications infrastructure projects. Tasks may include preparing pole loading analysis, construction permits, high-level and detailed fiber network designs, staking maps, and as-built maps as well as long range planning of network fiber serving areas and F1/F2 fiber routes. This position will report to our Swartz Creek, MI office.

JOB REQUIREMENTS & ESSENTIAL KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS:

• Minimum of 5 years of design experience in FTTH/B (Fiber To The Home/Fiber To The Business and transport network design including electronic network hardware
• Detailed experience with AutoCAD, Google Earth, and associated GIS toolsets used in network design, configurations, and detail map assemblies
• Ability to travel with projects, resolve problems and interface with the customer on design/construction issues
• Understanding of RUS codes and engineering/construction contracts
• A working knowledge of passive and active cabinet design and configurations, GPON, DWDM, and other modern network technologies
• Ability to design and organize fiber cable counts splice configurations, and a working knowledge of the fiber color code
• Experience communicating with manufacturers, distributors, and field/construction personnel
• Ability to work with and train new employees

Pay: $25.00 - $35.00 per hour
