Office Design Coordinator
Job description
Hegira Health, Inc. (HHI), a private non-profit corporation, is one of the largest freestanding behavioral healthcare agencies in the area. HHI, accredited by the Joint Commission and licensed by the State of Michigan, provides a broad array of mental health and substance abuse treatment and prevention services to individuals of all ages.
This position is involved in the build-out and evaluation of office space throughout the organization. The person in this position will lead and coordinate activity related to the design and redesign of office space. The position is based out of Livonia and coordinates services in the following locations: Canton, Lincoln Park, Livonia, Taylor and Westland. Work hours are Monday through Friday 8:30am - 5:00pm, with adjustments for projects.
OFFICE DESIGNER REQUIREMENTS:
- Bachelor’s degree in Interior Design or a related field.
- Two years or more of experience in commercial interior design.
- Excellent interpersonal skills.
- Able to work independently as well as part of a project team.
OFFICE DESIGNER RESPONSIBLITIES (summary):
- Design interior layouts.
- Meet with personnel to determine space utilization.
- Draw by hand or CAD the components of a given space.
- Plan system workstations as well as dismantle and reconfigure existing workstations.
- Research appropriate furniture and finish options.
- Work with the contracted project architect and/or engineer to develop plans.
- Communicate with manufacturers to identify products and warranties.
- Issue Purchase Orders for products and services.
- Maintain records of product placements including model numbers and samples of fabrics, finishes, etc.
- Maintain a library of product samples and catalogs.
- Specify products and plan clinic space appropriate to behavioral healthcare use.
- Maintain scaled drawings of each construction project.
- Research and become knowledgeable of Federal and State guidelines for behavioral healthcare.
- Identify suitable new, used or existing furniture for clinic applications.
- Design spaces to meet Federal and State handicap accessibility criteria.
- Research lighting options and keep abreast of products that are being discontinued or introduced.
- Work with the Building Technicians to ensure that repairs are made with the correct products.
