Responsibilities:
POSITION SUMMARY:
This position has the responsibility to comply with safety work rules at all times as well as an obligation to reinforce safety as a core value. Ensures that all policies, procedures and activities, related to food safety & quality are followed and complied with uniformly, in an effort to reduce product and process variability.
The lead is responsible for overseeing the day-to-day activities of the shipping and receiving department and office logistics including the proper handling and recording of the facilities by working closely with the Shipping Supervisor on finished goods, leakers, rework, returns, among other tasks.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Assumes personal responsibility to ensure a safe and healthy workplace for everyone. Adheres to all safety policies/procedures and incorporates safety and health in all job’s duties/tasks
- Adheres to safe work practices, follows GMP and HACCP guidelines, maintains sanitary conditions and ensures that product quality is maintained. Reports any conditions or practices that may adversely affect employee safety or food safety/quality to management immediately
- Ensure the warehouse staff follows all MFI, Quality, and Governmental processes and procedures as required
- Adhere to all safety policies and procedures for all jobs and tasks
- Oversee the shipping and receiving crew during shift operation
- Attends and actively participates in safety meetings and trainings
- Oversee the order fulfillment process to meet customer and MFI standards
- Complete and submit all monthly safety training incentive forms and quarterly supervisor safety inspections to maintain a safe and efficient workplace
- Support warehouse, transportation, and production employees
- Responsible for the proper placement of material in the cooler, trailers and dock locations
- Oversee the loading/unloading of freight including the cross-dock materials from other MFI plants
- Communicate information to staffers and management via email, phone and in-person
- Complete Monthly Cleaning Schedule (MCS), maintain, prioritize, and document the sanitation schedule for the warehouse and oversee general good housekeeping policies
- Participate in the training of new employees to include documenting the employees’ progress
- Perform SAP functions
- Participate in Michael Foods, Inc. training sessions
- Oversee and ensure the P.I.T. checklists are being completed and turned into supervisor monthly
- Possess the ability to multi-task
- Complete all necessary paperwork to ensure that inventory is accounted for
- Lead by example
- Ability to work flexible hours
- Performs other duties as assigned.
- High school diploma, general education degree (GED) or equivalent years of experience
- One year experience in warehousing, transportation or manufacturing preferred
- Must be able to operate electrical sit-down and stand-up forklift and rider pallet jack
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy
- Able to work with minimal supervision
- Must be able to work independently and in a team
- Basic to intermediate computer skills
- Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work in a cold and hot environment
- Follow the Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs) and Safety regulations for the area
- Wear the proper Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) for the job
- Work well with others and be a team player
- Occasionally lifts 50 pounds
- Ability to type or take shorthand and speed notes required
- Skilled in working with computers and experience with spreadsheet and word-processing software
- Familiarity with special terminology such as legal, medical, or scientific terms
- Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
- Ability to speak effectively before groups, customers/vendors or employees of the organization
- Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs
- Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
- Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, and diagram or schedule form
PREFERRED EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS:
- Knowledge of SAP preferred
- Leadership experience in a warehouse or related industry
- Forklift operation experience
- Fluency in a language other than English.
- Workers are required to wear proper PPE such as hair nets, ear plugs, and certain areas require earmuffs
- Occasional bending and stooping
- Frequent periods of sitting, standing, walking and repetitive hand movement
- Exposure to changes in temperature and humidity
- Manufacturing plant is a large, open floor, some areas have loud machineries, and some areas are wet
