$144,600-$176,800
Multiple factors, including Individual experience, skills and abilities will determine where an employee is ultimately placed in the pay range.
Variable pay may provide additional opportunities for financial awards. This job is eligible to participate in IP’s short –term incentive plan.

The Job You Will Perform:
Top finance position responsible for mill-wide budgeting, financial planning, analysis of financial results, and providing management with an understanding of the mill’s financial performance and the financial effect of business plans and strategies. Directly responsible for internal controls, accounting and reporting policies and practices for a complex mill. The individual must support and exemplify the vision and organizational values of International Paper and the Rome Mill. The Mill Controller reports to the Mill Manager and is a member of the Rome Mill Lead Team.
The key accountabilities listed below are not to be considered all-inclusive; a team member may be required to perform additional tasks, as directed, and based on changing business needs of the company:
- Primary responsibility for leading the accounting and finance areas (collectively referred to as administrative).
- Ensure development and implementation of administrative systems within the internal control framework established by the IP policies and controls group.
- Provide active, visible safety leadership and support for Rome Mill’s safety program(s) as the highest priority in delivering excellent safety results.
- Coaches safety in others and leads by example.
- Own the development of the budget, strategic plan, and capital plan.
- Support cost reduction efforts through analysis and highlighting cost reduction opportunities.
- Actively educate the mill team on key cost drivers and financial metrics.
- Work closely with the Global Sourcing Team to ensure that materials and services are procured at the lowest overall cost to IP while following financial policy.
- Participate in setting policies and procedures that are consistent with the IP Way.
- Clearly communicate and demonstrate quality principles and processes.
- Help develop, demonstrate, and support an organizational culture based upon values of empowerment, high involvement, and in a customer- and quality-focused organization.
- Lead and participate in total quality management processes, which will assure the highest quality production and customer standards, which meet environmental requirements.
- Understands and meets internal and external customer requirements.
- Must be able to wear all required safety equipment (PPE).
- Must be able to perform required duties in a mill/manufacturing setting.
The Skills You Will Bring:
- Minimum five (5) years’ experience in an Accounting/Finance position in a paper/packaging mill.
- B.A. or B.S. degree in Accounting or Finance.
- Proven track record of developing and implementing administrative systems.
- Strong financial/treasury and accounting experience.
- Proven track record of behaviors, which promote and support a principle-based organization.
- Strong financial analysis skills and project management experience.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Experience in strategic plan and budgeting process.
- Strong facilitation skills.
