Job Title: Maintenance Mechanic

Location: South Gate

Pay: 27-33.00 per hour

Shift: First, Second and Third Shift

Our Maintenance Mechanics work under minimal supervision to perform PM tasks such as troubleshooting, maintenance, repairs and installations in a heavy industrial manufacturing environment. This will include, but not limited to, the following:

· Assesses parts status to determine if repair or replacement is appropriate.

· Knowledge of AC/DC electrical drives and systems (480V, single and 3-phase).

· Basic understanding of PLC systems.

· Installs new ignition systems, changes or recharges batteries, and replaces transmissions, water pumps, hydraulic hoses and other parts.

· Repairs shift linkages, head gaskets, brakes, universal joint bearings, radiators, valves, motors, cylinders and pumps and changes seals on lift cylinders.

· Examines protective guards, loose bolts, and specified safety devices, and adjusts.

· Lubricates moving parts and verifies conformance to specifications.

· Reads manufacturer's manuals and spare part books, orders replacement parts.

· Carry out complete overhaul to equipment, install new hydraulic hoses, valves, pumps and cylinders.

· Carries out preventative maintenance procedures and checks on furnaces, presses and other equipment following work order procedures.

· Disassembles devices to gain access to and remove defective parts.

· Examines form and texture of parts to detect imperfections.

· Adjusts functional parts of devices and control instruments.

· Repairs or replaces defective parts in conditioning equipment such as grinding and abrasive blast machines.

· Inspects mobile equipment such as manipulators, forging presses, furnaces, overhead cranes, and blast cleaning equipment.

· Repairs or replaces defective parts in hydraulic equipment such as valves, motors, cylinders and pumps; conditioning equipment such as grinding and abrasive blast machines; mobile hydraulic equipment; and other plant equipment as designated by supervisor.

· Installs special functional and structural parts in devices.

· Starts devices to test their performance.

· Checks and fill lubricators on air lines, adjust flow as necessary, check and fill hydraulic reservoir as necessary, inspect hydraulic piping and hoses for condition and leaks, repair or replace as necessary.

Required Skills:

· Ability to read and interpret documents such as simple instructions, short correspondence, memos, safety rules, procedure manuals, operating and maintenance instructions. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers, supervisors or employees of the Company.

· Knowledge and hands on experience in the use of basic mechanical repair tools and gages such as volt-ohm meter, strobe tachometer, air tools, cutting/brazing torch, arc welder, soldering iron, micrometers, calipers, timing lights, compression gauges, pressure gauges, precision alignment tooling, drills, air grinders, electronic timing lights, hammers, saws, manual and air impact wrenches, etc.

· Required to regularly be exposed to extreme heat and airborne particles (with proper PPE).

· Required to frequently work near moving mechanical parts, be exposed to oils, other cutting fluids and vibration (with proper PPE).

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $27.00 - $33.00 per hour
