Job description
Prepares the meal site for daily luncheon. Washes and sanitizes all tables and counters in the kitchen area on a daily basis. Prepares drink station daily.
Monitors and records refrigerator and freezer temperatures daily.
Inventories kitchen supplies and prepares a list of items that need to be ordered from various vendors.
Brings meals and beverages to senior citizens that are unable to carry food trays or stand in line due to physical restrictions.
Serves food to congregate meal participants assembled in the service line.
Participates in the drive-thru Grab-n-Go line daily.
Insures site is cleaned and sanitized after luncheon and all trays, cups and glasses, silverware, pots and pans are rinsed, soaked, and/or scrubbed and placed in dishwasher.
All dishes are air dried and put up.
Silverware is wrapped and set in racks for the following day.
Refrigerators and freezers are cleaned and sanitized daily.
Kitchen area floors are swept and mopped daily.
The steam table, freezer and refrigerators are thoroughly cleaned weekly or more often if needed.
This position will serve as the back-up for the Lunch/Dance Registrar.
NON-ESSENTIAL DUTIES
May serve on various employee committees, as required and assigned.

Graduation from high school or GED equivalent preferred with previous experience in food service required.
Skills, Knowledge and Abilities:
Working knowledge of kitchen equipment, materials and supplies used in kitchen area.
Knowledge on handling prepared foods.
Ability to stand for long periods of time.
Ability to read and calibrate food thermometer.
Ability to work independently and to complete daily activities according to work schedule.
Ability to effectively communicate orally and in writing.
Ability to understand and follow written and oral instructions.
Ability to attend Quarterly Nutrition Training mandated by NMAAA
Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with Older Americans staff, Parks, Recreation, & Community Affairs personnel and general public.
LICENSING AND CERTIFICATIONS
Ability to obtain Safe Food Handler certificate within 60 days of hire.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee will have slight exposure to the following environmental conditions: chemicals used in cleaning, moving objects such as the dishwasher doors, noise from the dishwasher, slippery surfaces temperature extremes from very hot water to freezer temperatures.
The noise level is usually quiet while in the dining room, or moderately loud in the kitchen area when the dishwasher is running.
- The City of Hobbs will provide 80% to 90% Heath Insurance Coverage from Single to Family coverage.

- Employer PERA contributions 13.8% for general, 17.775% for HPD, 29.90% for HFD.
- CDL pay - $6,000 per year.
- PTO accruals start at 12 hours per month (144 hours per year) and increase to 20 hours per month (240 hours per year) at year 21.
- Bilingual Pay - $1,500 dollars per year.
- Education Incentive - ($1,000 to $6,000 dollars - Associates thru Masters, relevant to position).
