Job description

Thompson First Group is currently seeking a qualified Vehicle Mechanics for permanent opportunities with a local client in Linkwood, MD. Candidates who have a background completing repair and maintenance on heavy industrial fleet vehicle are encouraged to apply.

Essential Functions:

  • Perform scheduled service on all vehicles.
  • Perform inspections.
  • Perform major repairs to equipment, including engine, rear end, clutch, brake overhauls, transmission, and hydraulic system overhauls.
  • Perform minor repairs to equipment, including but not limited to cutting, welding, changing tires, and replacing lights.
  • Perform electrical system repairs on vehicles.
  • Maintain clean and organized work area.
  • Maintain records of repairs and enter into SAP system for tracking.

Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 2 years relevant mechanical experience.
  • Possess strong mechanical abilities relative to fleet.
  • Knowledge of metal fabrication, cutting and welding preferred.
  • Valid CDL driver license a plus, but not necessary.
  • Own tools.
  • Volvo/Mack Master Tech Certified and/or ASE Heavy Truck Certified.
  • Engine/transmission rebuilds a plus, but not necessary.
  • High level knowledge of shop diagnostic computer programs.
  • High competence on all truck/trailer systems.

Physical Demands:

  • Stooping, bending, and squatting
  • Climb ladders and work at heights up to 20 feet using all proper PPE
  • Climb stairs frequently
  • Lift weight up to 50 pounds

Working Environment:

  • Typical truck shop environment. Noise level is high to loud.
  • Must be willing to work all shifts.
  • Overtime is required.
  • Regular weekend work is required.
