Job Summary:

Supervisory position responsible for overseeing and coordinating the overall functions of the authorizations team and front desk to ensure efficient and accurate check-in and insurance preauthorization resulting in high patient satisfaction. Responsibilities include work allocation, hiring and training of new staff, problem resolution, providing constructive feedback, and motivating employees to achieve peak productivity and performance. Must possess strong leadership and customer service skills and have a working knowledge of insurance carriers.

Oversees the operations of the front end, encompassing patient check-in, insurance eligibility, payment and copay collection, forms processing, referral processing, advanced radiology exam scheduling, and insurance pre-authorization of diagnostic imaging, surgical, DME, injection, and miscellaneous services. Plans and directs daily and monthly assignments/coverage. Analyzes productivity and efficiency of staff. Maintains and reviews training materials and creates appropriate training schedule for new staff. Maintains a working knowledge of all health information management issues such as HIPAA and all health regulations. Understands and remains current on insurance carrier requirements, rule changes, and updates. Participates in the development and implementation of operating policies and procedures. Performs other miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:

Associates Degree or pertinent college level courses in a related field and 2-3 years of front end medical office experience, with a minimum of one year supervisory/managerial experience in a medical setting. Ideal candidate will have specific specialty experience in Orthopedics. Will consider equivalent combination of education and experience.

Preferred Qualifications:

Excellent oral and written communication skills, competency in appropriate computer software applications, and good organizational skills.

Work Days:

M-F 7:30am-4pm with alterations in scheduled hours based on department operational needs
