The George Evans Corporation in Moline, IL is hiring Computer Numerically Controlled (CNC) Operators with experience running machinery safely and accurately to perform a variety of functions. This position is very important since some materials are not easy to shape or handle manually or with conventional equipment. GEC is looking for applicants with a positive attitude, who have good attendance, job longevity, and previous experience. The open position is on 1st shift (6am-4pm) Mon.-Thur. with the possibility of overtime (voluntary/mandatory) is on Friday and Saturday.

Responsibilities

• Successfully operate Mazaks (Mills/Lathes), any additional shop equipment
• Ability to read and understand calipers and micrometers
• Proficient in hand turning, working with tight tolerances of +/-.000
• Must be able to read and understand blueprints in order to effectively manufacture parts
• Must be able to work in a team environment and contribute to the success of the team
• Ability/Experience in planning machining by studying work orders, blueprints, engineering plans, materials, specifications, orthographic drawings, reference plans, and locations of surfaces/machining parameters
• Ability/Experience to interpret Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T)
• Program Mazaks by entering instructions including zero and reference points, setting tool registers, offsets, compensations/conditional switches, calculating requirements including basic math geometry/trigonometry, and proving part programs
• Set-up Mazaks by installing and adjusting three and four-jaw chucks, tools, attachments, collets, bushings, cams, gears, stops and stock pushers, indicating vices, and trimming heads,
• Loads feed mechanism by lifting stock into position
• Ability/understand on how to verify settings by measuring positions, first-run part and sample work pieces, adhere to international standards.
• Maintain specifications by observing drilling, grooving, cutting including turning, facing, knurling, and thread chasing operations, take measurements, detect malfunctions, troubleshoot processes, adjust and reprogram controls, sharpen and replace worn tools, and adhere to quality assurance procedures and processes.
• Maintain safe operations by adhering to safety procedures and regulations
• Maintain equipment by completing preventive maintenance requirements, following manufacturer's instructions, troubleshoot malfunctions, and calling for repair when needed.
• Ability/understanding of the importance of maintaining continuity among work shifts, including documenting and communicating actions, any irregularities, and continuing needs.
• Understand the importance of documenting actions by completing production adn quality logs
• Prepare and operate CNC machines to perform tasks such as drilling, grinding, milling etc.
• Prepare and load raw materials and parts into the machines
• Prepare a test run to check if the machine produces parts according to specifications
• Set machines to complete full cycles to fabricate large number of parts
• Supervise the machines while executing the tasks and make any necessary adjustments to produce a better result
• Check and maintain machinery daily to ensure functionality

• Proven experience as CNC operator
• Skill in operating CNC machinery and tooling as well as precision measurement tools
• Computer savvy with basic understanding of computer programming and CAD/CAM
• A keen eye for detail and results-driven approach
