WARD COUNTY HUMAN SERVICE ZONE

Minimum Starting Salary for EW I: $3,374 monthly

Summary of Work


This positions will process applications for Economic Assistance Programs which may include any of the following: ACA Medicaid, Non-ACA Medicaid, SNAP, LIHEAP, TANF, General Assistance and Child Care Assistance Programs in accordance with the Department of Human Services program and policy procedures. Determine ongoing eligibility for the above named programs in accordance with the Department of Human Services program/policy standards. Establish and maintain community agency working relationships. Participate in agency training and staff activities, maintain client confidentiality, adhere to office procedures and preserve client rights.

The Ward County Human Service Zone Director reserves the right to amend the functions assigned this position either temporarily or permanently at any time as they determine to be in the best interest of their department. Further, employees may be assigned other or additional functions to fill in during the absence of other employees or vacancies in other positions.

Minimum Qualifications


Eligibility Worker I requires the qualifications as listed for the Eligibility Worker Technican underfill below PLUS one year of work experience determining eligibility in a social service office in one of the following economic assistance programs: Temporary Assistance for Needy Families (TANF), Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP), Foster Care, Medicaid or LIHEAP OR an Eligibility Worker Associate Degree offered at Bismarck State College.


If no candidates meet the above requirements the position may be filled with an Eligibility Worker Technician (4001) with a minimum starting salary of $2837 per month. Mimimum qualifications for an Eligibility Worker Technician requires a high school diploma or GED PLUS one of the following:

  • Three years of experience in the clerical, accounting, financial, legal or teaching fields.
  • Three years of a Bachelors Degree program (90 semester hours or 135 quarter hours)
  • Three years combined education and experience as listed above or
  • Completion of the Eligibility Worker Certiicate Program offered at Bismarck State College.
