Gallatin College Montana State University (MSU) is seeking an Advanced Technology Division Director to oversees all Advanced Technology programs and their associated faculty. The Division Director for Advanced Technology has teaching responsibilities and will administer overall operations for the Advanced Technology programs, which currently include Photonics and the Aviation Electronics programs. Other advanced technology programs will be added as needed by industry. This is an annual .80 FTE contract with administrative and faculty contract duties.

Gallatin College MSU is Southwest Montana’s two-year college, offering associate degrees and one-year professional certificates. Gallatin College complements the four-year programs at MSU and ensures access to workforce development that promotes a vibrant local economy.

Faculty and staff work closely with individual students to provide guidance, help them learn in their own ways, provide career advice and most importantly, ensure student success.

Duties and Responsibilities
Recruit, hire, supervise and manage non-tenure track faculty to ensure quality of instruction meets industry and accreditation standards in accordance with college policies.
Teach a couple of courses a semester in any Advanced Technology program, courses could include electronics, photonics, or avionics.
Be available to teach and support faculty and students during the evening hours and when needed.
Summer hours will also be required not more than 10 hours a week and those can be flexed.
Coordinate program activities alongside Gallatin College administration, faculty, and staff.
Develop and implement the request, purchase and maintenance of instructional equipment and supplies to ensure inventory control and efficiency for the program.
Foster positive student and industry relations, including coordination of the Advanced Technology program’s Advisory board.
Monitor and research national trends in Advanced Technology and related fields to ensure relevant instruction and course offerings to a broad range of students.
Evaluate success of program on an annual basis to include student, alumni, and employer satisfaction, based on assessments of students, and employers.
Make needed improvements to the programs, which may include new programs or courses.
Recruit, retain, and graduate students according to college expectations.
Seek relevant industry certification that ensures quality and industry connection.
Prepare reports as necessary for internal and external review.
Serve on campus committees to foster a supportive institutional climate and an informed faculty and staff support network.
Oversees academic advising with student success team for students, from orientation to graduation.
Seek industry accreditation for the programs to ensure quality; assist in the improvement of the programs and maintain relevance of education with the industry.
Implements student tracking systems, direct the collection of data at key points identified in the evaluation plan, including retention, graduation, and placement rates.

Required Qualifications – Experience, Education, Knowledge & Skills
Associate degree in an Advanced Technology subject matter, or related field.
At least 3 years demonstrated experience in private and/or public industry in an advanced technology capacity. Which could include photonics, electronics, avionics, or advanced manufacturing.
Experience networking with local industry partners.
3 years’ experience teaching or training in an educational setting or in industry.
Demonstrated proficiency in your industry specific software or CRM.

Preferred Qualifications – Experience, Education, Knowledge & Skills
Bachelor’s Degree in a related field, which could include photonics, electronics, engineering, avionics, or advanced technical manufacturing.
Certification or equivalent in your related advanced technology field.
Experience teaching or training in an educational or private workforce training setting.
Experience teaching and administration in a technical or community college.
Use of technology beyond basic computer skills.
Use of simulation technology for teaching-learning.

Position Special Requirements/Additional Information
Some evening work schedule and hours are required.
Special events and work during those special events will be required.
This position requires travel to multiple educational labs around the county.
