Overview
POSITION SUMMARY:
Reviews all approved recommended accounts for repossession to confirm due diligence has been completed and all efforts have been exhausted. Responsible for coordination and tracking of all asset recovery activities related to repossession/foreclosure on secured loans to mitigate charge off losses for GreenState Credit Union. Provides outstanding service, direction, and support to internal and external members under general supervision and in accordance with established policies and procedures. Represents the Credit Union in interactions with Repossession Agents and other vendors necessary in asset recovery. Supports a sales and service culture while maintaining a working knowledge of all services and operations of the credit union. Responsible for handling member issues related to asset recovery including negotiating arrangements with members to mitigate losses for the Credit Union.

Pay range for this hourly position is $38.06 - $44.50/HR with a progressive benefit package.
Responsibilities
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Performs essential duties and responsibilities in the following areas which may include, but are not limited to those listed and are subject to change:
- Adheres to the Credit Union's core values and Service Standards in carrying out GreenState's mission and vision.
- Demonstrates a positive member service (internal and external) focus at all times, greeting members and guests with a smile and eye contact immediately upon their arrival, using their name or acknowledging them, and thanking them for their business.
- Demonstrates teamwork in all interactions with coworkers and in the completion of all duties and responsibilities.
- Ensures confidentiality of member information.
- Supports a diverse and inclusive work environment.
- Contacts and confers with members by any means necessary to determine the reason for delinquency and to arrange an appropriate course of action to remedy the situation.
- Maintains all communications with members and/or vendors once repossession has been assigned until asset has been secured, abandoned, or acceptable resolution has been reached with member and repossession is cancelled.
- Maintains and updates member records while recording all communications and all collection activity.
- Handles all matters regarding recovery including repossession assignment, determines cost effectiveness of securing assets within delegated authority, recommends and coordinates replevin actions with our legal department, and recommends for charge off once repossession efforts have been exhausted.
- Performs advanced skip-tracing duties, as required and directed.
- Assists Account Resolution Department with departmental and/or branch training or job shadowing.
- Refers members to financial counseling resources when necessary.
- Review wholesale and retail values of collateral when necessary to determine cost effectiveness prior assignment to Repo Agent.
- Plays a vital role in enriching the community by participating in community service organizations and/or credit union sponsored events, on an annual basis.
- Maintains the Roquemore site for all our out of state repossessions and skip claim repossessions. This would include review for CPI, requesting documentation and communication from repossession agents.
- Contacts all impound yards to gather necessary information to determine cost effectiveness of securing assets.
- Handles all assignment and monitoring of all requested repossessions to approved agents ensuring that efforts are effective, and objectives of the credit union are met.
- Prepares and submits required information for short sale, abandonment, and settlement requests which are outside delegated authority limits.
- Performs any other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
JOB REQUIREMENTS/EXPECTATIONS:
- Minimum of three years of collection experience with reasonable knowledge of collection practices, consumer credit, repossession, bankruptcy laws and regulations, or equivalent credit, deposit, and/or financial counseling experience.
- Reports to work punctually, works all scheduled hours, and works overtime as necessitated by business demand. At times length of working day can be unpredictable, must be willing and able to work early and/or stay late with short notice.
- Ability and desire to interact with co-workers to develop positive and effective working relationships in all areas of Credit Union services.
- Strong interpersonal and persuasive skills to represent the Credit Union in a positive way during periods of stressful member contact.
- Ability to prioritize assignments and organize work efficiently, to handle large volumes of details.
- Strategic thinking to sift through large amounts of information to identify root cause and proposal of best path of resolution.
- Ability to use discretion to determine the best option from multiple courses of action.
- Ability to operate related computer applications and office equipment.
- High School Diploma or the equivalent (GED).
- Must be bondable.
- SAFE Act Registration may be required depending on specific responsibilities assigned within the Collections department.
Reporting Relationship
Reports to the Collateral Management Supervisor.
Supervisory Responsibilities
This position is not responsible for the supervision of other employees.
