Under the supervision of the Director of Rural Health Clinics this position is responsible for supervisor and coordinating the day-to-day operations of an assigned Rural Health Clinic. This includes staff supervision, coordination of patient appointments, managing staff schedules, managing supply & equipment needs, ensuring proper documentation, facilitating efficient and quality patient care, and overall supervision of all operations in the assigned clinic. The supervisor is responsible for the proper functioning of the clinic through administrative and technical direction. The supervisor orients, trains, and evaluates staff. Enforces policies, procedures, and standards of operation. The supervisor is responsible for approving timekeeping, employee evaluation, meeting applicable regulatory standards, approving supply orders, and department planning.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Oversees successful daily clinic operations to achieve quality improvement, fiscal productivity, payroll, employee evaluations, staffing, and patient satisfaction goals/objectives.
  • Develops and facilitates orientation through education and work experience for staff new to the clinic.
  • Supervises and coordinates activities of clinic staff, including work assignments, breaks, lunches, and scheduling.
  • Interviews and hires clinic staff for the assigned rural health clinic.
  • Works as needed as clinic staff to assist in the staffing needs of the clinic.
  • Possess the knowledge and ability to direct operations of the clinic.
  • Promotes teamwork with physicians, staff, leadership, and all health care providers.
  • Acts as a liaison with patients and their representatives, physicians, and employees, to ensure high-quality patient care.
  • Manages supplies and equipment to maximize productivity and minimize costs.
  • Assesses educational needs of department employees and works with the education department in developing or securing appropriate outside resources to meet the identified needs.
  • Keeps Director of Rural Health Clinics informed of any unusual concerns, situations, events, or conditions relative to staff, patients, families, or physicians.
  • Attends required hospital and department committee meetings. Attends in-service/seminars to maintain skills in areas of responsibility to be able to serve as a resource person to staff.
  • Maintains employee, patient, and hospital/clinic confidentiality at all times according to acceptable professional standards.
  • Participates in the development and implementation of the budget.
  • Assists Director of Rural Health Clinics with development and maintenance of policies and procedures.
  • Collaborates with other Rural Health Clinic Supervisors, the Rural Health Clinic Director, and the Rural Health Clinic Medical Directors to ensure consistency in the delivery of care and operations of the rural health clinics.
  • Participates in the clinic admin call schedule to provide afterhours support to any of the rural health clinics.
  • Ensures patient care environments and practices support exemplary, safe, and high-quality care of patients and families.
  • Demonstrates a leadership role through daily work, effective management, and teaching.
  • Initiates coaching, counseling, and disciplinary action in a supportive manner in accordance with the hospital policy.
  • Ensures that workplace environments are safe and that strategies are in place to prevent physical and psychological harm.
  • Demonstrates clear ownership of workplace and patient safety.
  • Reports mistakes, near misses, adverse events and quality and safety concerns.
  • Develops and implements safety and quality plans that support exemplary workplace and care practices, while also supporting a culture of safety.
  • Other duties as may be assigned.

Job Requirements

Education: High School Diploma required. Coursework or degree in management or healthcare related field preferred.

Experience: At least one (1) year relevant clinic experience required. Experience in management or supervisor role preferred. Must be able to utilize independent decision-making skills in a wide variety of situations. Knowledge of guidelines and requirements for applicable Regulatory agencies, such as Joint Commission and OSHA. Personal computer skills required. Frequent contact with employees, physicians, customers, community individuals and volunteers. Must be self-motivated to complete work in a timely manner to meet deadlines.

Physical Requirements: Frequent walking, standing, and sitting. Frequent reaching, stooping, and bending. Good visual acuity.

Schedule: Full Time, Days, Mon - Friday 8 hour days
