Job Summary:
UT Health San Antonio will be implementing Epic Inpatient as we expand our ambulatory environment and open a Multispecialty and Research Hospital (MSRH) and Ambulatory Surgical Center (ASC). We are seeking a senior level trainer with knowledge and experience in The Epic Training space for exciting opportunities as we design, implement, test, validate and maintain Epic software. Reporting to the Epic Training Supervisor, the Clinical Information Systems Principal Trainer-Senior will champion and contribute to the creation and development of best-in-class learning opportunities and operational programs that build capabilities and knowledge for all providers and staff using Epic Applications and related technologies to further the missions of the University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio.
Job Duties:
1. Supervision Given: Trains and mentors Clinical Information Systems Intermediate and Associate Principal Trainers.
2. Participates in all aspects of Health IT projects, from planning to workflow design, training, or sessions with clients and application analysts.
3. Meets routinely with site specific senior leaders to gather feedback and identify training priorities.
4. Attends physician and other clinic end user group meetings as scheduled and follows up on issues brought up in those meetings.
5. Participates in research and analysis activities having implications for the understanding / improvement of operational activities, workflows, procedures, and clinical business practice.
6. Builds the training environment, develops training curriculum, training videos and tests workflows for various end user roles in multiple applications.
7. Collaborates with IT management in setting guidelines and standards for the Epic environment that are consistent with IT and business long term strategies.
8. Master’s both system application and the organization's specific workflows.
9. Develops and implements the training program for all Epic applications.
10. Surveys students concerning the training program and recommends and implements innovative ways to enhance the effectiveness of education.
11. Acts as a subject matter expert to ensure training quality and consistency.
12. Assists in development and coaching of associate and intermediate Epic trainers.
13. Trains and credentials additional classroom trainers to assist with end-user training.
14. Collaborates with cross information technology teams and application owners to troubleshoot and resolve application issues in a timely manner.
15. Maintains policy and procedure documentation.
16. Review and revise training curriculum to incorporate changes in identified needs, advanced technologies, health care trends, updated policies and guidelines and quality improvement issues for all applications.
17. Delivers ongoing training.
18. Participates in clinic rounds, innovation sprints, and one on one sessions with end users.
19. Builds documentation tools for the end user in the electronic health record.
20. Creates specialty specific clinical content for ease and efficient end user documentation.
21. Provides daily support of designated applications through triage and/or virtual chat.
22. Performs other related duties as required.
Education:
Bachelor’s degree in Education, Healthcare Information Management or Systems, Health Administration, Arts or Sciences
Experience:
Five [5] years of Epic Training experience, clinical or clinical business experience OR an equivalent combination of comparable skills, education, training and/or experience.
At least three (3) years of the experience must have been in clinical systems education.
Additional Licenses and Certifications:
Epic Certification in Inpatient module(s) but may have other Epic certifications or an equivalent combination of comparable skills and education required.
